In order to qualify for WIC the applicant must:
- Be pregnant, breastfeeding, have a baby under 6 months, or be an infant or child under age 5
- Live in Ohio
- Meet WIC Income Guidelines OR have Ohio Medicaid
- Fill out an application and health history
- Be present at a WIC appointment
- Be assigned a nutritional health risk by a WIC Certified Health Professional

What happens at a WIC appointment?
- WIC Support Staff will help you complete your application and verify your identity, income, and address
- A WIC Health Professional will weigh, measure, and check hemoglobin on you and/or your child
- A Breastfeeding Peer Helper and/or lactation professional will discuss your breastfeeding goals with you and provide support
- A WIC Health Professional will go over your health history with you and address any questions or concerns you might have
- The WIC Health Professional will assign you a nutritional risk in order to finalize your WIC eligibility
- You and the WIC Health Professional will set a goal for your certification time cycle to keep you and/or your child healthy
- The WIC Health Professional will assign an appropriate, healthy food package and load it onto a WIC Nutrition card that you can use at Authorized Ohio grocery stores
