Immediate Supervisor: Allen County WIC Director
Job Responsibilities:
Under direction of the Allen County WIC Director, the Certifying Health Professional 2 performs a variety of nutrition and breastfeeding related functions, including nutrition and breastfeeding assessment, counseling, certification and benefits issuance for WIC participants. Assist with WIC program planning, provision, evaluation and outreach. Provides services in compliance with applicable program standards, state laws and rules, and Board of Health adopted policies and regulations. Represents program at community programs and with other community, state, and regulating agencies to conduct routine business. This position is grant funded.
Qualifications:
- Must be an Ohio Licensed Dietitian (LD), Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN); additional certification as a Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) or Certified lactation Specialist (CLS) or IBCLC preferred.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the State of Ohio may be considered.
- Experience in maternal and child nutrition including breastfeeding education, and literacy and language skills appropriate to address the needs of diverse participants preferred.
- A minimum of 1-year experience working with WIC or public health preferred.
- Must possess & maintain a valid & unrestricted registration/license as appropriate.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and proof of auto liability insurance coverage required.

Full-Time Environmental Health Specialist
Service Area: Environmental Health
Reports to: Director of Environmental Health
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Environmental Health Specialist-In-Training – $21.29
Environmental Health Specialist – $21.55
Under general supervision of the Director of Environmental Health, the Environmental Health Specialist performs inspections, re-inspections and investigations, and prepares reports which determine compliance with state and local codes and regulations for Environmental Health Services programs
Sample Program Areas of Responsibility:
- Food service operations and retail food establishments
- Sewage treatment systems
- Manufactured home parks
- Private water system evaluations and sample collection
- Public health nuisance abatement inspections
- Public swimming pools and spa
- Animal bite investigations and rabies quarantine
- School environment inspections
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science or related field
- Ability to obtain registration as an Environmental Health Specialist-In-Training, or registration as an Environmental Health Specialist, in Ohio
- Valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and proof of auto liability insurance coverage
Working Conditions: - Occasional overtime, night or weekend hours may be required
- Works within the Allen County Combined Health District; occasional travel outside the county
